A Memorable Day in Yvoire

Today, Vickie and I took a day trip to Yvoire, a small flower-filled village in France! We both finished our last ballet and French classes here in Geneva, and we were both super excited to explore a cute little town (only 600 inhabitants!) and take lots of photos. Hence, this blog post will be mostly a photo dump.

We took a ferry from Gèneve-Mont Blanc to Yvoire, which took about an hour and a half. Along the way, we passed by the famous Jet d'Eau in Lake Geneva.

We also started our photo-taking journey on the ferry, and I tried not to let the combination of the windy boat ride and my short summer dress flash anyone in the process.

When we got to Yvoire, it was around noon. The roads was lined with red flowers, and we found these colorful little doors, which may or may not have been for residential buildings. Nonetheless, we spent a solid few minutes taking photos in front of them.

After that, we went to Le Bateau Ivre for lunch, since Vickie and I were both quite hungry. We ate their famed perch fillets, which traditionally came from Lake Geneva, but Vickie's dad claims that they're more commercialized now. It cost 28 euros per person, which is just a tiny bit expensive, but you don't get to eat fancy French fish in a fancy French village every day, you know? It also came with fries, a side salad, and free bread (the best part!), so we were both stuffed by the end of lunch.

We continued on our adventure by finding more photogenic walls and benches and looking around cute shops with artisanal clothes, jewelry, and sheep soap. I bought two bar soaps as presents for my family, and Vickie bought some bags of dried lavender to give back to her mom. I'm not exactly sure soap is a great present, but the one for my dad is a three-dimensional sheep, and Jake's is a piece of soap attached to a string. Obviously, I thought it'd be great for college!

Cute wall and bench!

Some silly selfies inside a shop for baby clothing :)

We also found a cool-lookin' door where we could take some dance photos, but my dress hampered my traditional arabesque poses :( although that doesn't mean I didn't try. As you can see, my dress is in a pretty precarious position.

By the afternoon, the sun was scorching hot, so we bought some ice cream cones and reapplied sunscreen. (Always wear sunscreen, kids! I keep forgetting I have to wear it on the daily once I start biking around everywhere in college.) We took some more photos of flowers and walked around some more, and it was time to head back.

On the boat back, we found a "Petit Salon" to sit in and watch the ocean, so we ate some white chocolate and raspberry cookies that we bought from a small sweets shop and chatted. In the process, of course, many self-timed pictures were taken, such as the ones below:

So there it is, fellow blog readers! A fun, picture-filled day in Yvoire, France. It's nice to have these ideal, picturesque days every once in a while, and I'm so happy Vickie and I got to spend it together laughing, eating, and talking :)
